On Friday 23rd of November Year 9 pupils took part in a bike ride around Rother Valley. The Rother Valley Country Park is a country park in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, close to the border with Sheffield and Derbyshire. It covers three square kilometres, has four artificial lakes, recreational activities and nature reserves.
Pupils cycled one lap in the morning and then did another in the afternoon, having reenergising in-between over lunch. Those more confident did a few extra routes and managed to cycle an incredible 10 miles! For those pupils not quite as confident independently cycling, we hired a 4-seater bike, which allowed everyone to complete the route. Going up hills on the 4-seater did prove somewhat of a challenge, with some pushing assistance required!
Pupils had a fantastic day and really enjoyed themselves. Behaviour was excellent and the amount of effort everybody put in made for some very tired and muddy pupils on the bus back to school!
