On January 19th 2019, 10 children and four staff from SSSC spent a week in Samoens, France on our annual skiing residential. This resulted in everyone being treated to some of the most breath-taking views in all the French Alps. Pupils had lessons morning and afternoon with the fantastic instructors from the Zigzag ski school. It was incredible to watch their progress over the course of the week as they became more confident and controlled, getting higher up the mountain and taking on some more challenging runs. We had a rest day in the middle of our trip in which we spent the day visiting a traditional French market before enjoying a crepe and hot chocolate.

Pupils were lucky to be staying in a fantastic chalet just minutes away from the cable car, which took us up to the slopes each morning. When enjoying downtime in an evening we held regular darts and pool competitions in the chalet games room as head chef Mr Kealy cooked up some culinary delights to ensure we were well fed each evening.

The pupil’s behaviour was fantastic and it was a pleasure to spend a week in their company. They skied every minute possible and despite to cold weather displayed positive attitudes each day.
