SSSC 4 – Brackenfield 1

SSSC’s Key Stage 3 football team celebrated an excellent victory against our good friends from Brackenfield School on Thursday afternoon.

In a tense opening 10 minutes there was nothing to separate the two hard working and fully committed sides. It took a moment of magic from Robert Shore to break the deadlock as he smashed home a free kick from just outside the area. This seemed to settle SSSC down and they began to play some excellent football with Ben Reynolds making some fantastic breaks from midfield. A defensive line of Adam Stephenson, Liberty Forbes, Jayden Milner and Owen Warton proved strong in the tackle and just before half time SSSC were rewarded with their second goal. A shot from Harry Palmer was handballed in the area giving Robert Shore the chance to score his second. He saw his penalty well saved, before neatly placing home the rebound.

Just after half time and Brackenfield got themselves back in the game with a well struck shot past the until this point seemingly unbeatable Beau Bradford who was in inspired form all afternoon. This seemed to kick start SSSC once again as they pushed forward in search of more goals to put the game to bed.

Liberty Hadden, Lewis Brough and Stephen Wheeldon entered the game and provided fresh energy and invention to the performance. Shortly after their arrival, Robert Shore completed his hatrick with another well-struck drive from the edge of the area to restore SSSC’s two-goal advantage.

The scoring was completed when with just moments to go Harry Palmer’s fine ball in was deflected into the net by an unfortunate Brackenfield defender to leave the game finishing 4-1 to SSSC.

Pupil’s attitudes and behaviour was exceptional throughout and they clearly had a fantastic and enjoyable afternoon. The player of the game as voted for by those watching went to Liberty Forbes who was sensational throughout.

A special mention must go to our usual striker, talisman and captain Ethan Barlow, who due to injury stepped into the role of referee. Ethan did a fantastic job and relished such an important responsibility.
