New Outdoor Gym at SSSC

During the May half term a new outdoor fitness gym was installed by TOGOC at SSSC.

The fitness equipment is part of a grant from Awards For All. The grant was awarded to SSSC as part of a project to improve and further enhance the well being and physical fitness of our pupils.

Mr Kealy said “The equipment will be a great addition to the schools sporting facilities and will also be an excellent resource for the community of Swanwick”.

On Friday 30th November 2013

SSSC went to ST Martins to play football it was a good game despite SSSC losing, the players had fun and got along well. The weather wasn’t very good either but the players still played well.

Basketball Competition

Today SSSC’s key stage 3 boys competed in the Competition Plus basketball event at Alfreton leisure centre. The event was run by coaches from Derby Trailblazers and was an excellent opportunity for our pupils to apply their basketball skills against teams from other schools in Derbyshire. The boys played a total of 3 games winning each one. The last game played was the most impressive result, which ended in a score of 14-0. It is even more impressive when you consider each game was only 6 minutes long! All the team demonstrated excellent defence, lay ups and teamwork in all games. The enthusiasm and passion showed by all the boys was excellent. Each one of the team embodied our ethos of enjoy, achieve, exceed and did SSSC proud.

Well done boys!
