2018 KS3 Football Tournament

On Friday the 6th of July, SSSC hosted our annual end of year KS3 football tournament. Around 40 pupils from Brackenfield, Peak, Holbrook, Bennerley Fields and ourselves took part in the event.

The weather was fantastic and the first thing worth mentioning is the wonderful behaviour and attitudes of all pupils involved. They were a credit to their various schools; in sweltering temperatures, they showed great desire, sportsmanship and attitude.

In the morning, pupils were split into three groups and worked round a carousel of three activities. One was a passing activity, the second was focused on dribbling and the final activity was shooting. Pupils spent around 30 minutes on each activity before moving onto the next one.

After a well-earned lunch, pupils were then divided into six teams to play in a World Cup themed tournament. The teams were mixed with pupils from different schools and it was great to see the pupils making new friends and getting to know others. Three teams went into two groups with the winners of each then facing off in a final.

Following fiercely contested group stages the final was played out between Group A winners Brazil and Group B winners Russia. Brazil came out on top with a hard fought 1-0 victory.

Again, well done to all those who took part and thank you to those schools who attended!
