School Council notes April 2016

Swanwick School and Sports College

School Council Notes 18th April 2016.

All students that attended School Council on Monday 18th April 2016 came with a variety of ideas that initiated from the school council agenda. Each student representative presented their ideas they had produced within their form to the School Council. Then a short discussion was had on the most important elements and how we as a school will move forward. We also had the Mrs Fellows, Parent Governor observing our School Council.

Members present:- Kyle, Olivia, Joseph, Sarah, Annie, Molly, Bradley, Lucy.

Updates:-

  1. Epraise is fantastic, it is a fair reward system.

  2. Whole school votes for reward trips are a much better idea.

  3. As a school we will celebrate the Queens 90th

  4. We raised £319.00 for Sport Relief!

Primary:-

Epraise:-

  1. Really like the vouchers and protective log in.

  2. Really like being able to save points to buy a better prize.

  3. Could more prizes be added like:- toy cars please.

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. We could design a crown/stamp competition.

  2. Have a cake stall

  3. Duke of Edinburgh kebabs

  4. Jewellery stall

  5. Cucumber sandwiches (High tea)

  6. We could invite parents/carers

  7. Fancy Dress with a Royal theme

  8. Perform a Royal song.

Trip Ideas:-

  1. Treetops, Butterfly House, Gulliver’s Kingdom, Drayton Manor, Alton Towers, Wheelgate.

Transition/Y8:-

Epraise:-

  1. We have no issues, we absolutely love it. Thank you.

  2. We like saving our points to buy prizes.

  3. You can get House points which is great.

  4. You can earn medals for big achievements.

  5. Please could we have some toy racing cars, pencil top rubbers?

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. Cake stalls, chairs and tables.

  2. Royal bonnet parade

  3. Afternoon tea

  4. Party food.

  5. Dress in Red, white and blue.

  6. Whole school Queen Mosaic.

  7. We would love to invite parents and carers.

A.O.B:-

  1. Please could we have new tables and chairs in our classroom as we have more people in our room. Thank you.

Trip Ideas:- Splash Landings, Go-Karting, Cadburys World.

Year 7:-

Epraise:-

  1. Works really well, no issues.

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. Chocolate cake for the Queen’s Birthday.

  2. Party games

  3. Games tournament.

Trip Ideas:-

  1. Bounce Revolution, Lazer Quest, Swimming

Year :- 9 (LG):-

Epraise:-

  1. Epraise is much better than our old system.

  2. It seems easier to get points.

  3. Like the leaderboards.

  4. Please could we have more shop options. We would really like some art stuff.

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. None school uniform.

  2. People could dress up as the Queen/Royal family.

  3. We could have a history day

  4. Street party.

Trip Ideas:-

  1. Matlock Farm Park, Climbing, Mountain biking, Go-Karting, Rollerworld, Skate Park, Drayton Manor.

Year 9:-

Epraise:-

  1. We love E-Praise; think the reward trip vote works much better.

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. Street party sounds great.

  2. Love the idea of a BBQ.

A.O.B:-

  1. Dinners are quicker than normal and they are tasty however sometimes they are a bit cold because we are always last in.

Trip Ideas:-

  1. Fishing trip.

Year 10 :-

Epraise:-

  1. On occasion can be difficult to access due to the school internet.

  2. Could we have “Steam” Gift cards? (Unfortunately not due to age restrictions.)

Queens’ Birthday

  1. Tea party with parents/carers.

  2. BBQ

  3. Make decorations and a cake.

A.O.B:-

  1. Is there a possibility of having bigger sinks in the boys toilets.

  2. New toilet seat in boys toilets please

  3. New pipes in the urinal please.

Trip Ideas:-.

  1. Planet Bounce, Go-Karting, Lazer Quest, Mini Golf/Crazy golf.

Year 11:-

Epraise:-

  1. Prizes are good.

  2. How do we get points for logging on and being a House Captain. (DE explained this to school council)

Queens’ Birthday:-

  1. Have a birthday party.

  2. Water fight.

  3. Have a cake making competition

Trip Ideas:-

  1. Planet Bounce, Cadbury’s World, Cinema.

The next school council will take place on Monday 13th June 2016.
