School Council Notes 12th September 2016.

All students that attended School Council on Monday 12th September 2016 came with a variety of ideas that initiated from the school council agenda. Each student representative presented their ideas they had produced within their form to the School Council. Then a short discussion was had on the most important elements and how we as a school will move forward. We also had the Ruth Peat from Integrated Youth Services at Derbyshire County Council observing our School Council.

Members present:- Ben, Harry, Jaiden, Sarah, Sam, Molly, Meghan, Joel.

Primary 2:-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Treetops, Chesterfield Football Club, Chesters Fish and Chips, Butterfly House, Space Centre, Thomas Land, Gulliver’s, Velodrome, Alton Towers, Wheelgate, Cadburys, Laser Quest, Yorkshire Wildlife park.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Lego, Minecraft, Scooby doo merchandise, Dinosaurs, Big bouncy ball, Paints, bubble makers, Kites, monster high, Gem stones, video games.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be nice, be sporty, happy, kind, a little strict, helpful and superb.

A.O.B:-

  1. Please could we have a swing ball?

Year 7:-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. These were year 7’s top five ideas.

  2. Planet Bounce, Drayton manor, Water park, Cinema, Shipley Park.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Extended break times, Afternoon break, Skipping ropes, Hair accessories, Toy cars/lorries, Time on an iPad for a Friday afternoon, Non-uniform day for individual.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be kind and helpful, a good listener, supportive, reminds the children to respect authority, Sense of humour, generous, friendly, good memory to learn new names, offering to be a buddy to lonely people.

Year 8:-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Alton Towers, Laser Quest, Escape, Planet Bounce, Gullivers Kingdom, Splash Landing, Drayton Manor, Crazy Golf, and Rollerworld.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Tennis rackets, Remote control car, Skate Board, Cricket bat, Soft toys, Playing cards, Board games, Colouring books.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be well behaved, have good manners, treat everyone fairly and have good attendance.

Year :- 9 (Transition):-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Splash Landings, Cadbury’s World, Planet Bounce, Adventure Golf, Go-Karting, Theme Park, Theatre, Cinema.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Nintendo E Shop Vouchers, T.Y Key rings, More Teddies, More footballs, Kids DVDs, Amazon Vouchers, Argos Vouchers, Disney Storybooks, Music CDs, Construction/Craft kits.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be kind, nice, a good listener, care about the younger children, helpful, ability to organise events/activities, good at talking, funny.

AOB:-

  1. Thank you for the Primary Playground it looks very good.

  2. The curtain on the all-weather pitch is damaged, can we have another one?

Year 10 (KJ):-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Bike rides, Crazy Golf, Walk around Matlock for chips and ice cream.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Make up/nail varnish, individual non-uniform days, footballs, pencils and crayons, deodorant, hairbrushes, hairclips and headbands.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be smart, do not swear, be respectful, polite and good at talking to people.

Year 10 (LG) :-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Rollerworld, Gullivers Kingdom, Laser tag, Planet Bounce, Alton Towers, Climbing Wall, Markeaton Park, High ropes, Splash Landings.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Pencil case, BMX Gloves, Steam Gift vouchers, Water bottles, Bike equipment, Goal keeper gloves, be able to pay towards camping trips, craft equipment, gift cards, sensory equipment.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Be understanding, have good social skills, good manners, high attendance, active and friendly.

AOB:-

  1. DT lessons, Gym equipment needs maintaining. Recap of pitch rules.

Year 11:-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Laser Quest, tobogganing, Cinema, Paint balling, Quad biking, Climbing, Drayton Manor, Cadburys World, Alton Towers.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. JD Sports Vouchers, I Tunes Vouchers, Adidas Jumpers.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Correct uniform, no swearing; do not get into trouble, well behaved, responsible, gets on well with others.

AOB:-

  1. The middle urinal in the boys’ toilets often blocks.

Hub:-

Reward Trip Ideas:-

  1. Laser Quest, Cinema, Planet Bounce.

Epraise Prizes:-

  1. Battle net vouchers, Playstation and Xbox vouchers/games.

What attributes should a school prefect have?:-

  1. Correct uniform, respectful, not overly competitive, sensible, excellent attendance.

A.O.B:-

Swanwick Hall students can be very rude and distracting. Please ensure they are not near us when we are trying to do our PE sessions.

Actions:-

  1. Planet Bounce:- Unfortunately this is no longer allowed to be a reward trip due to Health and Safety regulations directed to us by Derbyshire County Council.

  2. Vouchers for Epraise:- Mr Kealy will be doing an assembly on Epraise on Monday 19th September to explain rules and regulations of vouchers.

  3. Behaviour on the Pitch:- Mr Kealy will do a reminder assembly on appropriate behaviour.

  4. Reward Trip:– Mrs England will collate all the Reward trip ideas and then each person will take vote. The trip with the most votes will run in the last week of term.

  5. Epraise prizes:– Mr Kealy will be adding more prizes after he has completed the Epraise assembly. The idea for adding the camping trip has been agreed and will be added soon.

  6. Mark Your Mark:-Students were told about the “Make your Mark” campaign and will all vote on Friday 16th September 2016.

  7. Swing Ball:- Has been bought, however it will be students responsibility to look after it. A designated Prefect will bring it in and out at the start of each break/lunch.

  8. Prefect Roles:- Next Week Mrs England will hold a meeting for KS4. From there an application process is required and then the final decision is by Teacher vote. The selected Prefects will be in post by the end of half term.

This was a fantastic start to the school year. All students demonstrated extremely mature, sensible attitudes and were a pleasure to work with. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

The next school council will take place on Monday 7th November 2016.
