Family Support and LiaisonĀ

We recognise that strong partnerships between home and school are essential. Our Family Support Team works closely with pupils, parents, carers and external agencies to help remove barriers to learning, improve attendance, promote positive wellbeing and ensure families can access the support they need.Ā At SSSC, our Family Liaison Worker and Family Support Worker are key members of the Pastoral and Safeguarding Team. Both are Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and play an important role in promoting the safety, wellbeing and success of our pupils. The team provides advice, guidance and practical support to families and can assist with a wide range of issues, including attendance, emotional wellbeing, safeguarding concerns, behaviour, parenting support and access to specialist services.

They also play a leading role in the school's Family Help provision and regularly coordinate and attend multi-agency meetings, including:

  • Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings
  • Child in Need (CIN) meetings
  • Child Protection meetings
  • Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews
  • Professional and multi-agency planning meetings

Our Family Support Team works closely with a range of external services, including Children's Services, Health Services, CAMHS, Family Help, Youth Services and Social Care, ensuring that pupils and families receive coordinated and effective support.

Pupils may be referred to the Family Support Team by school staff where additional support is identified. Parents and carers are also encouraged to contact the school directly if they would like advice, support or guidance.

Through strong relationships, early intervention and effective multi-agency working, our Family Support Team helps to ensure that pupils are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential both in and beyond school.
