I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of Swanwick School and Sports College, a vibrant and ambitious special school where pupils are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Our website provides an insight into the opportunities available to our young people and reflects our commitment to helping every pupil achieve their full potential. At Swanwick School and Sports College, we combine high-quality teaching with a wide range of enrichment opportunities that help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence. These experiences may include activities such as cycling, football, dance and, for some pupils, residential and outdoor learning opportunities including skiing.

Our broad and engaging curriculum is designed to enable our pupils to make excellent progress and prepare successfully for adulthood. Alongside academic learning, we place a strong emphasis on developing communication, independence, personal development and life skills.

Pupils access a range of appropriate qualifications, including GCSEs, Entry Level Qualifications Functional Skills and ASDAN awards, and are supported to achieve outcomes that reflect their individual strengths and aspirations.

For our older pupils, we offer a diverse range of vocational courses, including Electronics, Small Animal Care, Horticulture, Outdoor Learning, Skills for Independence, Food Technology, Creative Digital, Art, Music and Drama. These provide valuable opportunities to develop practical skills and prepare for future education, employment and independent living.

We work closely with families and a range of external professionals to ensure our pupils receive the support they need. These partnerships include the Learning Disability Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (LD CAMHS), Social Care, Community Police and commissioned therapeutic services such as Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

Our dedicated Pastoral Team provides exceptional support to pupils and their families, helping to meet social, emotional and wellbeing needs both within school and in the wider community.
