DofE Bronze Award – Half Term Highlights

Our DofE Bronze group have had an outstanding few months, showing commitment, teamwork, and a brilliant attitude throughout every challenge they've taken on.

Last half term, the group took part in Bouldering at the Climbing Unit in Derby, where they threw themselves into learning safe and effective climbing techniques. Their enthusiasm paid off: they all progressed confidently, and some members are even on track to achieve an ASDAN award for their efforts!

Their fantastic work has continued this half term with a strong focus on campcraft skills back at school. Pupils have successfully learned how to pitch tents, work together as a team, and safely use Trangia stoves to make hot drinks and cook pasta—essential skills for their upcoming expedition scheduled in June.

Most recently, they have begun applying these skills beyond the classroom, taking part in practice walks with map reading in Shipley Country Park. Watching them transfer their learning to real outdoor environments has been truly impressive.

I am incredibly proud of every single one of them for their teamwork, resilience, and positive attitude.

Well done, everyone!
