Theme Enrichment Day

On Wednesday 12th November, our KS3 Cognition pupils took part in a Theme enrichment day based around the theme of Collections and Collaborations. Pupils were off timetable all day and took part in different activities through the lessons of Drama, Music, Art and Food Technology.

Art

Pupils worked in collaboration to create sections of a piece of art, formed with different mediums, then put together to create the final piece. Staff and pupils had a wonderful time working with different mediums and showed excellent teamwork and creativity to create three fantastic pieces of Art which will be displayed in school.

Drama

All pupils in KS3 Cognition took part in working collaboratively to recreate a scene from the musical, Annie. During our end of the day assembly, pupils from all three year groups performed a scene together and several brave students sang to Tomorrow and It’s a Hard-Knock Life. There was an array of fantastic acting, singing, and pupils pushing themselves out of their comfort zones to make the most of the opportunity presented to them.

Music

Within the Music sessions, pupils mashed two songs together using a digital program and created a music video using the green screen. A group of pupils used the program Audacity to layer and blend the song Umbrella and Singing in the Rain together. Whilst the technical team were busy creating digital music, the rest of the team were filming the music video, showing off incredible dance moves and miming. The end video was a fantastic display of collaborative work.

Food Technology

Within Food Technology, our three Key Stage 3 classes worked in collaboration by creating a picnic for the entire key stage. At our end of day celebration assembly, all pupils tucked into a variety of sandwiches, a fruit plater, vegetable sticks, pizza rolls and an assortment of hand decorated cakes. Pupils were able to sit with their peers, reflecting on a wonderful day and tucked into their picnic with a huge amount of self-accomplishment.

It was a wonderful day and the pupils demonstrated all of our learning heroes throughout the day, especially teamwork, communication, creativity and responsibility.
