Since kicking off in September, our students have thrown themselves into this incredible adventure with enthusiasm and determination. The DofE isn’t just an award – it’s a life-changing journey that builds confidence, resilience, and skills for work and life. It’s about going the extra mile, discovering new talents, getting active, making a difference, and broadening horizons.
Our SSSC cohort has truly embraced every challenge so far! This term, they’ve mastered map-reading using Ordnance Survey maps, navigating on foot and by mountain bike through fantastic locations like Markeaton Park, Swanwick footpaths/Crays Hill Park, Sleetmore Woods, and Codnor Park Reservoir. Their cycling skills have improved massively, and they’ve learned vital outdoor essentials – from the Countryside Code and basic first aid to cooking safely on Trangia stoves. Their confidence and practical skills have soared!
And the adventure doesn’t stop there. After Christmas, the group is excited to take on climbing and bouldering at The Climbing Unit in Derby – a fantastic way to boost strength, fitness, and stamina. We can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
